Guives Panama completes the assembly of the roofs and facades of the Airport and ITSE branch stations

The Line 2 of the Panama Metro, which runs 23 kilometers from San Miguelito to Nuevo Tocumen, has completed its two-kilometer branch that connects with the Tocumen International Airport and the Specialized Higher Technical Institute (ITSE). The branch, which started its construction in 2019, entered into operation on March 15, 2023, after having completed the white march process.

Guives Panama has participated in the assembly of these two branch stations: ITSE and Airport, which are added to the 16 existing ones on Line 2. The ITSE station is located in front of the educational institute’s campus and also provides service to the National Institute of Professional Training and Training for Human Development (INADEH) and neighboring communities. The Airport station is located on the west side of the airport, near terminal 2, and facilitates access for passengers and workers who move between the city center and the airport terminal.

To move to the ITSE or Airport stations, users must arrive at the Corredor Sur station, where they will find a central platform with a train available to move them to these two stations. The branch has a frequency of 10 minutes and a single fare of 0.50 dollars per trip, which can be paid with contactless cards or with the Metro card.

The branch of Line 2 of the Panama Metro is a project that seeks to boost tourism and the economy of the country, by offering a modern and quality infrastructure to receive thousands of visitors who arrive on ships of up to 5,000 passengers. In addition, the branch has an innovative system of interlocking Kalzip roofs, which consists of aluminum elements designed to cover large lengths without overlapping pieces by profiling on site.

Guives Panama has installed the Kalzip system that offers advantages such as flexibility, durability, corrosion resistance, thermal and acoustic insulation, fire and lightning protection, and low maintenance.

Guives Panama has participated in the construction of roofs, facades, technical walkways and skylights on the branch of Line 2 of the Panama Metro being this a project that promises to be a benchmark in the region.
